Bright Metallic has a Home

We have settled into a new office building, the location is in
SLURL: Bright Metallic – Pleione
Stop by and check it out! There is seating to relax and hang out, and a Sponsor Wall where those that support the magazine are represented.

Bright Metallic is looking for Bloggernauts! What is a Bloggernaut you ask? A Bloggernaut helps creators and readers to find like-minded bloggers. Each month, one selected Bloggernaut will showcase items from creators in an interesting and artistic fashion, with their own cyberpunk, sci-fi, dystopian style. If you are interested in becoming a Bloggernaut, IM or send a notecard to Tara De Vries, Art Director for Bright Metallic and include links to your blog, Flickr, and any relevant experience.

Welcome contributor Felice Nightfire of Laudanum Lollipops who will share two writings and pictures in December’s debut issue.

We’re confirmed as an exhibitor at the 2015 Second Life Science-Fiction Convention happening February 20th – March 1st.  Hope to see everyone there.

Magazine kiosks should be ready by mid-week and we will be sending them out to those that request them and actively asking people to host a kiosk.  There are several options with the kiosks a 1LI version to a 3LI scripted animated version, non-animated as well to choose from.

Join the in-world group for the latest news, and thank you for your support!

The Magazine Kiosks are Finished

The Magazine Kiosks are Finished

Tara De Vries, Art Director for Bright Metallic, has finished the in-world magazine kiosk.  They are beautiful!   There are a floor and wall version, and a scripted animated version and non-scripted choices.  All versions are just 1LI.  Amazing work, Tara!  The release date for the first issue is Dec. 1st 2014.  We will be reaching out to land and shop owners to ask if they will host a kiosk.  Please help out if you can and host a kiosk!

I have briefly spoken with the most talented Sian Pearl of Chariot and she’s interested in working with the ‘zine.  You can see Sian’s work here on her blog Parthenoid.

We have been given permission to re-print a SL sci-fi writer’s original story “Fish on Friday” by Elinor Caiman Sands.  I met Elinor through Bookstacks, an in-world book club that meets every Saturday @ 2pm SLT at the Bookstacks Pub in Second Life.  You can read about Elinor and her recent RL published work and awards at The Happy Snappy Gator. If you are photographer in Second Life and would like to volunteer to make a few pictures for “Fish on Friday” please let Mirage Plaid know your interest.

Would you like to participate in Bright Metallic?  We are looking for contributors of all skill level, languages, and interests within the SL sci-fi genre.  Contact Mirage Plaid in the evening SLT or her alter ego Marsha Warwillow, Editor in Chief of slGoth, during the day SLT.

Update on Bright Metallic Magazine

Update on Bright Metallic Magazine

Hello Citizens!

A release date for issue #1 of Bright Metallic has been decided on as December 1st 2014. We’ve made a lot of progress meeting new (to us) people in the sci-fi community in Second Life and here’s a summary of some things you can expect.  There’s still time for you to be involved in the first issue so don’t be shy and say hello.  We are looking for people of all languages, skill levels and experience to be a part of this collaborative ‘zine.

Tara de Vries of “Thanks for All the Nebulae” has an exploration guide for December, a first of many articles of this style.  We hope each issue will feature some of your favorite places, so contact us in-world if you would like to share for January 2015 and beyond.

Tara has designed the Bright Metallic in-word magazine kiosk, as well as the logo and page templates so the structure for the ‘zine is ready to go.

August 23

Ashley Carter, author and creator of the graphic novel VOIDAR has agreed to so something with us on a semi-regular basis as her publishing schedule allows.  VOIDAR is a fantastic story you can see online right now and is an ongoing evolving work that will soon be involving other people in the community to participate.  Here’s a casting call poster, check it out!

VOIDAR Casting Call

Goblin Crosby and Ellie Gillmour have a cyberpunk story they are working on and will publish part 1.

We may hear something from Stark Osterham @ Marz Radio but it’s not confirmed.

There will be an interview of a creator of cyberpunk / science-fiction themed things in SL.

We’ve been reaching out to photographers on Flickr to see if they’re interested in contributing to Bright Metallic. So far the response has been great, and so you can be assured there will be excellent photos to see.

Join the Bright Metallic in-world group to receive notices of new issues, because you will need to login and visit a place in-world to pick it up.  Hey can you host a kiosk on your land? That would help out a lot.  Let Mirage Plaid know and when it’s available she’ll send you one.  Thank you!

The Bright Metallic Flickr Group is up and running so please add your pictures to it!

Also you can find us here:

Mirage is online late in the evening SLT.  If you would like to talk to her earlier, please add her alter ego Marsha Warwillow as a friend.  Happy to meet ya!
